Event: Cumbria Three Peaks
Annual Lake District Trek
What is it? This years outing in the Lake District takes a slight twist from the two previous years which have involved rocky routes not normally trod by your average walker. Our plan is to return to the Wasdale area of Cumbria and to ascend England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike along with two others, probably Broad Crag and Lingmell depending on the day’s conditions …. hence “A three peaks challenge”.  It is our route that should provide the added interest starting from Wasdale Head again, we plan to journey to the top of Sty Head Pass before turning sharp right to join The Corridor Route. From here we will proceed to Lingmell Col, up the gentle slopes of Lingmell before returning to the col. Now we enter rocky terrain and ascend Broad Crag then on to Scafell Pike. We will return to Wasdale from Mickledore joining the Hollow Stones route. Lots of detail but helpful to those of you with area maps. The whole journey should take 6-7 hours so we need our usual early morning start. Because of our Nepal visit in April this event will take place in May on Saturday 29th.

Accommodation etc.
As usual we recommend that people needing accommodation should stay in or around Broughton-in-Furness and contact the Tourist Information centre in the village to help find suitable hotels or B&B’s. They have a website and you can call them on 01229 716115.Also as in previous years we will arrange somewhere local for a celebratory dinner on the Saturday evening and we will let you know details closer to the time.

Registering & Fundraising If you wish to join us you will need to complete the usual registration form which you can get by emailing me brianmetters@nepalschoolsaid.co.uk and return it no later than two weeks before the event. It is helpful if you can do this sooner rather than later since it helps with our own organising of safety issues plus the Saturday evening meal. We ask that you make a voluntary donation to take part in the event (voluntary = tax relief) which has mostly been at £25 per person in previous years. In addition we also encourage you to do a little fundraising but it is not a condition of taking part. If you wish to do so please let us know so we can advise you on making it tax efficient.
