The Academy is a programme of teacher training, mostly free, for community and government teachers in Kathmandu. Aimed at primary school teachers the programme is based on UK teaching standards and methods with a complete focus on child centred learning techniques.

Delivery of the programme is by Nepal Schools Aid's own Nepali Education Consultants with annual courses also run for selected teachers by expert trainers from the UK.

The programme is run continuously across the year in three parts all of which need to be attended in sequence since they all  build on each other as follows:

  1. Introduction Seminar: This one day workshop is designed to introduce potential delegates for the full programme to a number of important concepts and tools in child centred learning which includes Educational Psychology, Values in education, making and using classroom resources, English early learning, and our own framework for Quality Education.
  2. Foundation Course: This is a five day course with more in-depth learning and skill work in separate workshops on Educational Psychology, Values For Children, Lesson Planning, Classroom Resources. The course is very practical with many activities, exercises and the chance to practice all the elements essential to child centred learning.
  3. Advanced Course: This is a six day course and can only be attended after one year of implementing the learning from the Foundation Course. The course goes much deeper into child centred learning in terms of using full English medium for teaching so therefore delegates will need to be competent English speakers to qualify to attend. The course is in three parts, the first being a detailed study of English Early Learning using the phonics approach taught in all UK schools, English Intermediate (Literacy), and Facilitation Skills essential to the application of collaborative and cooperative techniques.
Attendance on these programmes is open to ANY teacher from a government or community school who registers with us first. All you have to do is make contact with and follow the instructions shown our our Contact page on this website.
