Who Are We
We were founded in 2007 by Dr Champa Metters, the first woman from Nepal to gain a PhD, and her husband Dr Brian Metters. Champa is a retired science teacher and Brian a retired organisational psychologist. Their colleague trustees are Sharon Clack, their daughter and her husband Michael. The trustee team is completed with Andy Green an independent financial advisor. In Nepal the Operations Director is Dr Madan das Tuladhar, and our Education Consultant is Ms Babita Shrestha.
We are a registered UK charity (Reg 1119023)and our details can be viewed on the Charity Commission website where you can examine our accounts, annual reports and the details of our Trustees.

Our Mission
Quality Education for the children of Nepal

The First 5 Years:
Our work is based on the fundamental principal of "leaving a legacy" with those we support and we began our work in 2007 with a simple  programme of distributing exercise books, 22,000 in all, to a number of impoverished schools in Kathmandu.
Over the next 5 years we worked to develop the quality of education in 7 inner city schools by increasing their material aid beyond exercise books and to include textbooks and schoolbags, by improving school leadership through offering management courses and in-school coaching, by paying teacher salaries, and by initiating a programme of teacher training for 92 teachers annually.

The Next 5 Years:
We are now ready to consolidate developments in the 7 schools and you can read more about their progress on the Schools page of this website. This has to include reducing dependence on material aid from the UK, greater implementation of child centred learning in all schools, and further training from UK experts to deepen existing knowledge. This is a continuation and embedding of everything we have done.
Our greatest learning as an organisation however is the true value of the training, coaching, and advice we have given directly to Heads and to teachers. This has led us to transform ourselves into a virtual academy in which we now offer ALL our training to ALL teachers in Kathmandu working in Community and Government schools. We are reorganising to have full time employees in Kathmandu who are trained to UK standards and who will run phased training courses at Introduction, Foundation and Advanced levels across the whole year and you can read all the details about this on our Academy page on this website. In addition we will make all our support materials freely available to anyone registering with us.

Our work is funded entirely from donations and grants in the UK with no salaries or fees payable in the UK and no "cash" being given to any school in Kathmandu.Funds are transferred to our Nepal bank account and used to buy goods and services at local cost which is extremely efficient and contributes greatly to our outstanding financial performance.
